About Early Intervention

Early Intervention services are state funded Special Education services for children ages birth-to-three years old who meet the Utah definition of “infant or toddler with a disability.” These services are authorized and regulated by Part C of the national Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).The Utah agency with oversight of EI programs is Utah Baby Watch.

Baby Watch contracts with a variety of agencies to provide Early Intervention services at the local level. Kids On the Move holds the contract to provide Early Intervention services in Northern Utah County.

KOTM has designed an quality Early Intervention program that meets the requirements of the Utah Part C State Plan (listed under "Reports") with excellence.

Eligible families help identify the services that will help them achieve their child and family goals. Services which may be provided by KOTM include:

  • Family Training - help in understanding the child's specific needs
  • Special Instruction - designing learning activities that help the child develop new skills
  • Parent support groups and seminars
  • Sibling program
  • Training to the child's other caregivers, such as day care providers
  • Hearing and vision screenings
  • Help in finding community resources
  • Free checkout privileges at the KOTM library
  • Family and/or individual counseling
  • Help with assistive technology
  • Coordination of services with other agencies who also provide services to the family

    These services may be provided at the family's home, at KOTM, or at other community settings.
